Inspire Yourself Let Your Dreams Live On!

The best feeling is when you mark a job or item off your to-do list. It makes you feel that you have achieved something.

Well, last week I didn’t have that feeling. I didn’t have the inclination or energy to do anything, and I mean anything! Nothing I did, or anyone for that matter could make me smile or laugh. I was in a funk. The fun and excitement in this fun loving girl wasn’t there. This wasn’t me!

I had done it to myself and it is so easy for us to do.

Sometimes we push ourselves so hard that we don’t listen to our bodies. We forget to eat, drink and sometimes sleep because we want to complete our to-do lists especially if you are marketing your travel business. You want to be always ahead of the game and up-to-date.

I think we push ourselves for various reasons-

  1. We feel we are not good enough to have what we have. You start a business and think ‘I can’t possibly do this, it will fail because I’m not good enough or business-minded enough.’

  2. We compare ourselves to others- ‘they are running their business better than me, look how many clients. They are really good and I’m not.’ The thing is we don’t even know their life’s story.

  3. We are stupid and we cannot do anything right or perfect.

  4. Lastly, we are perfectionist, nothing is right. We do the same thing over and over wasting valuable time.

It’s the same with travelling and taking a vacation. We get these wonderful inspiration and dream then come up with loads of excuses.

  1. It’s too expensive.

  2. Don’t know how to do it.

  3. Haven’t got time.

And we go on and on.

There are a lot of us who answered yes to one or more of these points, and it is usual to compare yourself to others, after all we are only human. But rest assure you are not alone. It takes confidence to compare yourself in a positive manner.

I had all these thoughts while I felt unproductive and worthless. All I wanted to do was have another cup of coffee and binge on my favourite movies and shows. I didn’t think I was worthy of tackling the challenging tasks that was associated with the business. Why should I? It was out of my comfort zone.

Then a weird thing happened while watching one of my favourite Vlogger on Youtube. I got slapped inside my head! She was talking about being you, having a presence, being present, loving yourself and being uncomfortable if you want to succeed. The longer I watched and listen the more motivated I got. I realised that I was following the wrong route, I was digging a hole, for me!

It was time to let the fun girl out- the one who loves to drink wine while cooking and travelling.

Now I’m back and I will try my hardest not to go back on that path.

So when you feel the ‘funk’ coming on, shake it off by marking off a time where you can get the inspiration you need to bring you back on track. A book, film, date night, out with friends, anything, but make it positive. This will make you feel good about yourself.

Life is what you make it and every morning don’t forget to say to yourself-

‘I am grateful for…today, because…/ I can do it!’

It works because I am back to the authentic me, even better and stronger and catching up on my work with a new change of attitude.
