Why Family Vacation is So Important!

Travel opens your eyes to new experiences and gives us a different perspective of life.

Having a family vacation is a great way to teach your children about the world. They get to have that first hand experience which will stay with them forever. When my children were born, we made a conscious decision to travel to as many countries with them.

Family life can take on a whole new meaning when vacationing together-

  1. Conversations between the children and parents takes place, especially if the children are teenagers.

  2. Parents are more relaxed and focus on play and exploring rather then work.

  3. Having vacations together can advance children’s brain development.- Panksepp 2016.

  4. Children’s attention span and concentration level improves.

  5. Relationship between children and parents are re-ignited.

While it may be stressful for some here are reasons to have that perfect family vacation:-

Seriously, don’t try and research the vacation yourself. That is what Travel Professionals are there for. They will research, plan and book every aspect of your vacation and even give you advise on the documentations needed.

Having a family vacation gives you time to “pause” and re-energise. It takes you away from all the hustle and bustle. You will just have one decision for the day…whether to go to the beach or use the pool.

Create new memories- Wake up early and watch the sun rise over the horizon; visit a volcano; explore the local market; try new foods. Visiting new destinations can awake the possibilities and sense of adventure for the whole family. Sharing a unique and common experience is one of the best ways to strengthen the bonds and create memories that will be cherished forever.

Leave the housework at home. Take the time off to relax, totally. Most hotels and resorts are all inclusive, and all you have to do is wake up, get dressed and enjoy your day.

Teach yourself new things. Families can take advantage of being in a different environment by soaking up some new knowledge or acquiring new skills. Learn how to surf. Learn some foreign phrases. Explore new surroundings. Doing this will help stimulate your brain and body in ways you wouldn’t be able to if you were at home in your comfort zone.

If your children are older, agree to limit the gifts that they get throughout the year. Just a couple of surprises on special days, and put the budget towards a fantastic family vacation. Most children have more than enough “stuff” but not enough family interaction.

So think about it… but don’t take too long because popular destinations are already filling up with other families like you.

Let me help you sort through the options and plan your perfect escape this year.
